BLS Desi Society
"Desi" refers to any people, culture, or products that originate from the Indian subcontinent. It is derived from the Sanskrit word "deśa" (देश), meaning "country" or "land."
What do we do?
-
Henna Week
Henna Week at my school is a celebration of South Asian culture where students can get intricate henna designs applied to their hands by volunteers. It’s a fun and creative way to share traditions, raise cultural awareness, and bring the school community together.
-
Asian Night
Asian Night at my school celebrates Asian cultures through student performances, including traditional and modern acts, fostering cultural appreciation and community. Every year BLS Desi continues to show off our culture through a bollywood dance!
-
School Collabs
BLS Desi also collaborates with other South Asian Societies from Massachusetts in efforts to grow the Desi community and continue to teach our culture!
